- Project Title: Color & Shapes Piano Lesson
- Project Link: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/83659428/
- Project Description: In this lesson, students practice using shapes, colors, and Scratch on the computer while playing music. Many young students are challenged to find keys on the keyboard or on an instrument. The Makey Makey enables these students to play music and compose songs in a format that is understandable to them. It is not necessary for students to be able to read music or use a computer keyboard in order to play music on this program. Rather than notes and letter keys, students use Play-Doh keys identified by color and shape. They can read and write music using either shapes, colors, or both, giving valuable practice to young students in learning these skills. A song can be written as a series of color swatches or drawn shapes. In addition, this program simulates many different instruments, allowing students to play the piano, a flute, or the bass without needing access to a single actual instrument or needing to have experience playing that instrument.
